in Sunday School,
for our youth,
& in our community.
We will be
sponsoring several events for the youth of Birdsboro this summer. First,
in line with the theory of drum circles, we will host monthly ukulele
circles. These events will run from 10:00 am to Noon in Myer's
Hall. Those attending (youth of all ages) are invited to bring a ukulele
or use one of ours. We will learn basic chords, strumming patterns and
then some simply songs. Who knows, maybe we will even perform at a church
service one day. Kids of all ages (2-92 - or older if you can make it!)
are invited. We will have pizza at the end of each event. Dates are: Monday
July 9th, Thursday August 2nd. Invite your friends. Call
and register if you can so we know how many pizzas to order.
Cooking For Kids
On August 9th & August 23, from 10 am -12 Noon, we are having a free life skills class for kids from 8 to 18. Please note: Kid cooks will be working with knives and cooking on a stove. All participants must be able to follow directions and safely handle cooking instruments and a stove. Kids will learn to cook full meals from scratch using fresh ingredients. Lunch is included from the food cooked that day. Please call the church office to reserve your spot. There is a limit of 10 participants per class. Class is full.
St. Mark’s has been contacted by the Birdsboro Food Pantry asking us to participate in an ongoing collection of laundry detergent to help the more than 80 families served by the Pantry. A laundry basket can be found in the narthex of the church to place your purchases of laundry detergent and it will be taken to the Birdsboro Food Pantry as the basket fills up. As you shop for your household supplies, please consider purchasing an additional bottle or box of detergent to help the needy families of Birdsboro.
BOYER’S FOOD MARKET CARING AND SHARING KEY TAGS are available in the narthex of the church. If you present the key tag during checkout Boyer’s will give a 1% rebate to St. Mark’s. The money the church receives will go into the Capital Improvement Fund.
STAPLES WILL GIVE US up to $20 a month for used ink cartridges. If you would like to donate your empties, there is a basket under the table in the narthex.
HOT MEALS FROM A WARM HEART continues with volunteers willing to prepare and deliver meals. If you know of someone who could use a meal contact Judy Colvin at 610-385-1250. When an opportunity comes up Judy will contact a preparer on a rotating basis to arrange providing a meal at a certain time. Judy will also provide the contact information enabling the preparer to call the recipient a day or two in advance to verify the time of delivery and if there is any diet restrictions.
MICHAEL'S RESTAURANT on Route 422 in Douglassville will give us a
percentage of your bill. When it is time
to pay just tell the cashier you are a member of St Mark’s in Birdsboro. What a world, you enjoy your meal and help St
Mark’s at the same time.
